Adeline L. Smith, 92, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013 at Urbandale Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at McLaren’s Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.

Adeline was born August 9, 1920 in Des Moines, Iowa to James G. and Margaret (Scholes) Kennedy. She was a typist at the West Des Moines Express Shopper and a 1938 graduate of Valley High School in West Des Moines. Adeline enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards, spending time with family and especially her grandsons. Her favorite color was green and she loved eating cherry pie.

Adeline is survived by her daughter-in-law, Connie Sue Smith of Des Moines; grandsons, Brian Smith of Oak Ridge, TN and Jeff Smith of Ankeny; step-sisters, Audrey (Wilbur) Robson of Mountain Home, AR and Beverly Coronelli of Huntley, IL and brother, Richard (Diane) Sutphin of Walford, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry (Jack) Smith; son, Michael K. Smith and sister, Mildred Hardt.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Donor’s Choice or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Thank you to all of the caregivers at Urbandale Heath Care Center who affectionately called her Addie.
