Alice Hudelson, 90, died January 1, 2025, at Cedar Ridge Village. Alice was born November 24, 1934, in Des Moines, Iowa to Alfred and Esther Larson. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1953. Alice attended Drake University, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority, and graduated with a B.S. in Education. She worked for the Des Moines Public Schools at Edmunds and Howe Elementary, as well as Callanan Middle School for over 30 years. She was well-loved by her students and faculty. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Jim, sailing, bridge, gardening, and she and her sister would swim almost every day at Mercy Health and Wellness Center. Her greatest love was spending time with her family.
Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Jim. She is survived by her daughters, Margie Monachino (Doug Staskal), Jayne Molleck (Bill), and Jeanne Stutts; five grandchildren, Joe Aulwes (Kristin), Brad Monachino (Sora), Mike Monachino (Catherine), Nick Molleck (Megan), and Luke Molleck (Sarah) and seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Alice will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025, at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines, Iowa. A visitation will start at 10 a.m. with a service to follow at 11 a.m.
