Amber Anne (Alford) Barr, 71, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2022 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines with a graveside service at 11 a.m. at Resthaven Cemetery.
Amber was born July 25, 1950 in Des Moines to W. Wayne and Doris (Baker) Alford. She was a 1968 graduate from Waukee High School. During high school, she worked at Baker’s Riding Stable and had a love for riding horses. Amber went on to work at Wellmark-Blue Cross Blue Shield and retired after 20 years. She also enjoyed bowling, cross-stitch and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Amber is survived by her husband of 51 years, Carl Barr Jr.; son, Jim (LaRay); daughter, Jeannie (Steve) Connolly; grandchildren, Mariah (Andrew) Soto, Joey Campbell, William, Ben, and Jaxzen Connolly; and great-grandson, Beckett Soto. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, W. Wayne Alford Jr.
