Annette Julia Jackwig was born in October 1922 in Chicago, Illinois. She worked as a bookkeeper for Loyola University Press before marrying Roy Jackwig in 1948. They moved to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin in 1952, to Galesburg, Illinois in 1956, and finally to West Des Moines, Iowa in 1974. Like Roy who died at their home in July 2002, she died at their home last Friday.
Annette is survived by her daughter, Lee Margaret Jackwig of Windsor Heights, Iowa; her sister, Margaret Steerman of Chicago, Illinois; her brother, Jerome Steerman of Urbana, Illinois; and cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and their three conceived but miscarried children, she was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Caroline Steerman; her sister, Dorothy Steerman; her brother, Henry Steerman, Jr.; and her godson, Steven Steerman.
Annette’s Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1627 Grand Avenue, West Des Moines, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, her daughter requests that memorials be made to the charity of the giver’s choice. McLaren’s Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
