Betty was born December 24, 1935 on a farm close to Missouri Valley, IA to Harold and Edna McCoy. She loved Pepsi, red jellybeans, music, playing the piano and organ at various churches she attended. Betty also took a team of singers to a nursing home once a month where they sang old hymns for the residents, which they loved. She loved lighthouses and a highlight was going to Seattle where her cousin, Gary lived, and he took her on a tour of 13 lighthouses and where she got her first glimpse of the Pacific Ocean. Betty had a great childhood growing up on a farm where they were poor in money but rich in love from her parents and grandparents.
Betty is survived by her husband, Robert; son, Lee; and sister, Carold Gibson of Branson, MO; five nieces; three nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Barbara and brother, Roger.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Greater Des Moines.
