Beverly Howe

Beverly is survived by her daughter Diana (Scott) Hatfield; sons Larry Lowe (Nancy Frahm-Lowe), Scott Lowe, and Daniel Lowe; grandchildren Shani Lavorato (Tony), Brandon Hatfield, Nathan Hatfield (Angel), and Keeley Frahm-Lowe (Alex); great-grandchildren Sarah Dorn, Leah Lavorato, Cecilia Hatfield, Isaak Hatfield, Lukas Hatfield. She was preceded in death by her husband Dave Howe, her brother Norbert Larsen and sister Suzi Anderson.

Beverly grew up in Valley Junction and was a Valley High School graduate. Her early married years were spent as a homemaker. She became a real estate agent in the 1970s. She worked later as a dental assistant for 15 years. In retirement, she volunteered at West Des Moines Human Services.

Beverly was always active and liked being outdoors. She enjoyed hang-gliding and sky-diving solo. For several years she participated in the Senior Olympic Games, winning many medals. She also rode in RAGBRAI four times. Spending the summers fishing and boating on Lake Katatogama with her husband and family was always a great time.

Later, Bev and long-time friend Melvin O’Neal began traveling the world, visiting Europe, China, the Caribbean, South America, and the United States.

Bev enjoyed living her last years at The Lodge on Ashworth, making friends and keeping active. Her favorite games were corn hole and playing pool.

Her love for family and keeping close ties was always a priority. She will be deeply missed, but always remembered and loved.
