Carl entered into the Navy reserves in April 1965. Upon graduation from High School in 1967 he continued with the Navy until September 1967 when he was honorably discharged. After that he worked at several printing companies and retired from running a collator press in Urbandale in 2010. In retirement he enjoyed gardening and working outside around the house. He also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
Carl is survived by his children Carl Alvin (LaRay) Barr III and Jeannie (Steve) Connolly; grandchildren Mariah (Andrew) Soto, Joseph (Loralie) Campbell, and Jaxzen Connolly; great grandchild Beckett Soto; sister Mary Jane Correll; brothers Jerry (Barbara) Barr, Alan (Kim) Barr; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Amber; brothers Larry and Danny; sister Connie Dilliner; and brother-in-law Steve Correll.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2026 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel, 801 19th St., West Des Moines, IA 50265, with a short graveside service at 2 p.m. at Resthaven Cemetery.
