Carolyn Louise Nicola, 74, died Saturday after a 3 ½ year battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Aldersgate Methodist Church, 3600 75th Street in Urbandale. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the church.
Carolyn was born November 14, 1936 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1955 and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education at Parsons College. She was a teacher in the Urbandale School System for 27 years.
Carolyn enjoyed walking, reading and volunteer work. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed quality time with her granddaughters and family.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Harold J. Nicola; son Mark (Kim) of Urbandale; daughter, Jill (Jim Olson) of Des Moines and granddaughters, Rachel and Leah Nicola of Urbandale.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Aldersgate Methodist Church or the Rolling Green Elementary School Library.
