Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 11:30 am at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel and Mortuary, 801 19th Street, West Des Moines, Iowa 50265. Visitation will be held on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 am at the funeral home until the time of the service. Immediately following the service burial will be held in Resthaven Cemetery. There will be a time of food and fellowship following the burial at the funeral home.
Clay Edward Ewing was born on August 25, 1959, in Rock Island, Illinois to William Lester and Mamie Lorene (Myers) Ewing. He was the youngest of five children. He lived in Andalusia, Illinois, and later the family moved to Missouri. After a few years there, they then moved to Priest River, Idaho. Before graduation he enlisted into the United States Navy and served honorably for five years.
After his time in the military, he went to Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny and later went to DMACC. Clay was united in marriage to Lori Standing on May 5, 1990, at the Church of the Land in Living History Farms. There were two children to this union, Ethan and Emily.
Clay worked for PDI in Ankeny, Iowa, beginning in 1986 until his retirement in 2024. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He made it to many of the Cardinals vs Cubs games with his brother-in-law, Larry. Clay was a history buff and in his younger years he would take part in civil war reenactments. He attended Ankeny Baptist Church for many years. He had a very strong faith and was a people person. Clay loved making strangers his new friends. He was a big fan of Star Trek and Star Wars.
Clay was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Tom Ewing, Art Ewing, and Deanna Johnston. Clay is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lori; two children, Ethan Ewing and Emily Ewing; one sibling, Marsha Koetting and numerous nieces and nephews.
