Clifton D. Carter, 86, passed away on July 5, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be 11 am, Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Indianola Heights Evangelical Free Church with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Monday, at the church.
Clifton was born on October 12, 1925 in Wolsey, SD, the son of William and Fydia (Poulisse) Carter. He served during WWII in the U.S. Navy. Clifton married Emily Simoes on March 5, 1949 and was a diesel mechanic for the Ruan Company.
He was a member of the Indianola Heights Evangelical Free Church.
Clifton is survived by his wife of 63 years, Emily, of Des Moines; children Sue (Garrett) McNeeley of Des Moines, Les (Barb) Carter of Des Moines and Dorie (Jim) Mulford of Allen, TX; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; siblings Merle (Bert) Carter, Donald (Gemma) Carter, Carol Carter, Gloria (Bill) Stewart, Milton (Nancy) Carter, Tom (Debbie) Carter and Brian (Kelly) Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Amanda McNeeley; brothers Bill and Darold and sisters Beverly and Ila.
