Curt W. Lindholm, 60, passed away peacefully from complications of pneumonia on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, NE. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at McLaren’s Chapel. A Celebration of Life will follow the visitation at McLaren’s Chapel. A reception will follow the service at Echo Valley Country Club, 3150 Echo Valley Drive, Norwalk, IA 50211.
Curt was born July 2, 1957 in Audubon, IA to Johannes and Vera (Knutsen) Lindholm. He grew up in Audubon and graduated from Audubon High School in 1976. He was a loyal Iowa State Cyclone fan. Curt enjoyed playing golf for Iowa State before his spinal cord injury in 1982. The Curt Lindholm Cyclone Classic was a charity event that ran for 25 years and was named in his honor. Curt loved helping others, especially through fundraising for The Miami Project To Cure Paralysis, Iowa State athletics and helping local individuals with spinal cord injuries.
Curt met Traci, the love of his life, in 1998 and they married in 2003. He was a loving and devoted husband for 14 years. Curt felt very blessed to be surrounded by family, friends and those that cared for him. He changed the life of everyone he met. His loving heart, positive attitude, sense of humor, and charisma made him a joy to be around. Curt lived his life by the motto, “If you can’t change your situation, change your attitude.”
Curt is survived by his wife, Traci Lindholm; four siblings, Steve Lindholm, Craig (Judy) Lindholm, Gail Schayfer and Mark Lindholm; step-sister, Kathy Cartwright; mother-in-law, Shirley Newgard; sister-in-law, Linda (Tim) Woods; brothers-in-law, Tom Newgard, Bruce Newgard and Gene Newgard; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Herbert Schayfer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Curt's name may be directed to the Madonna Foundation at 5401 South Street, Lincoln, NE 68506.
