Dalbert D. Ashdown, 89, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at McLaren’s Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Dalbert was born November 30, 1924 in Des Moines, IA to Albert and Pearl (Gilbert) Ashdown. He retired from Firestone after 31 years. Dalbert was on the Delaware Fire Department for 13 years
Dalbert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Viola Ashdown; two daughters, Cheryl (Mike) Peters and Rhonda (Bill) Jeffcott; two grandchildren, Stacy (Chris) Kingery and Tiffany (Todd) Wheeler and two great-grandchildren, Payton and Gavin. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines or to Parkridge Nursing and Rehab in Pleasant Hill.
