Our beloved Dan K. Dishman, 69, of Des Moines was born on November 6, 1951, and was lifted into God’s arms on April 23, 2021, while surrounded by his loving family. Although Alzheimer’s eventually ravaged his mind and body, we always knew he was in there; it was something in his beautiful blue eyes or that huge smile. A visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, from 6 – 8 p.m. at McLaren's Funeral Chapel in West Des Moines. A Celebration of Life will be the following day, April 29th, at 11 a.m. with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Dan worked hard his entire life, retiring from the USPS in 2007. He touched many young lives as a little league baseball coach for many years. Dan loved the Chicago Cubs and was a diehard Green Bay Packer fan. His greatest love and best achievements were his children & grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife Dami; children, Dan (Wendy) Dishman, Michelle (Andre) Ramanan, Todd (Meredyth) Dishman, Matt (Cally) Dishman, Ashley (Ben) Palen, Graham (Kari) Albaugh; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby (Paula) Dishman, and Ronnie Dishman; brother in law Bill Wallukait; 5 step-brothers, Mark (Kathy) Gillum , Ernie (Kim) Gillum, Chuck (Amy) Gillum, Bryan (Laurie) Gillum, Brad (Patty) Gillum; and many nieces and nephews. He was greeted in heaven by his parents, Bob and Lorene Dishman & Jeannine and Billy Jo Still; sister Sherri Wallukait; in-laws, Denny and Shirley VoPava; brother-in-law Tom VoPava.
The family would like to thank Sandra Cortez for the special care provided to Dan daily and the team from Wesley Life Hospice. Though our hearts are broken, we know he is no longer suffering.
