I kept thinking of this photo today. So I went looking and found it.

Dear Broph...I was honored to pen Darold J. Brophy, My Story, about you and your fascinating family, parents Ralph and Pearl, their siblings, your cousins, 21 on your father's side, 5 on your mother's side (and their families as best you knew.)  What a spellbinding tale!  Then you revealed stories of your childhood, teen years and dating, courtship, marriage and life with Julila, and the births of Vicki, Tami and Todd. Your story supported your line to me:  "I was a good boy."  In the last twenty plus years I've known you, you have proven to be "a good man"--caring, loving and devoted as a husband and father, loyal and supporting as a friend, always interested in the other person, never complaining about the hand dealt you, always a kind word of welcome and that warm smile.  That's why we loved you so!   Little Ricky

Wow, where do I start, dad?  You were the best.  You taught me well and I learned so much from you.  You made many memories for us and I will miss them all.  You were always there for me, especially when I lost my husband. I will never forget coming to the VA Community Living Center these past 5 months and watching the ISU football and basketball away games with you and how you wanted to make sure you had your ISU sweatshirt on.  I also enjoyed the activities at the VA, especially Bingo night, that we both had so much fun with.  

You were a great provider to your family. You loved us all very much, especially mom, and that showed.  You are an angel on my shoulder now.

Uncle Darold, I'd like to say ~ thanks  for the Memories... From childhood I remember how you got put your movie camera and filmed your girls going down the sidewalk to go to school the first time. I remember you taking us into your offices downtown and showing us the HUGH ROOM SIZE COMPUTERS, and you said this was the future, wait and see... And it happened, Computers got smaller and more personal size, ahead of the curve, thats what you were. You were so in Love with Julila, it was like Valentines Day everyday for you Two. We all should be jealous! You were kind, organized,  generous, gentle, loving and had your own "Cute" Sense of Humor! I have to thank you for one more thing, your dedication to taking care of Grandma and her affairs. It is(was) a difficult job and you did it gracefully,patiently and she Loved you for it, even if she didn't say so.  She Loved you dearly So i say my Fair-wells to 
you for now, but we shall meet again soon. I told you before, and I'll say it again, I Love you very much Uncle and always will.
