Darrell Sutherland of Beaverdale, was born June 15, 1955, to Max and Dorothy (Kinne) Sutherland, and passed away May 5, 2024 at Every Step Hospice/Kavanaugh House. A visitation will be held at 9:00 AM Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM.
Darrell grew up and lived in Beaverdale his entire life. Since childhood Darrell enjoyed sports; playing baseball and basketball at Hoover High School, then attended Grand View Junior College where he continued playing basketball. After working in the insurance world, Darrell found his calling as a Carpenter. Darrell loved the outdoors; especially boating, water skiing and hunting. Darrell always had time to visit and especially enjoyed family reunions.
Darrell was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, along with several Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Those left to cherish Darrell’s memory include his three sisters: Deborah Sutherland (Michael Hulfactor) of San Jose, CA, Marlene Noah of West Des Moines and Carolyn Sutherland (Allen Knudsen) of Beaverdale, along with nephew Grant (Jennie) Noah of Boone County and niece, Gail (Alex) Marske of Clive, their children Taylor Noah, Clayton Noah, Stella Marske and Whitney Marske, many cousins and friends.
The family would like to give their appreciation to the staff at Mercy One and Every Step Hospice/Kavanaugh House.
