On Sunday, October 4, 2020, Dean Webster Largent, loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and friend, passed away at 75 due to Parkinson’s and other health complications. He was in Methodist Hospital from June 19, 2020, until he was moved to Calvin Community until his last day.
Dean was born in West Des Moines to Bruce and Nellie (Loose) Largent. He graduated from Valley High School in 1964. Dean married his loving wife Charlene on June 24, 1989. He worked for Waste Management for over 30 years and then moved onto Kings Delivery, where he retired in 2010. He enjoyed his reaming days with family and friends. He was known for his great sense of humor, great stories, and jokes. He also had a great passion for old cars.
Dean was preceded in death by his father Bruce Largent, his mother Nellie Largent, sister Edna Wiley, son Bruce Largent, stepson Phillip Newhard, mother-in-law Elsie Robison, and father in law Clarence Drake.
He is survived by his wife Charlene Largent, children Boyd Allen (Jane), David (Becky), Alena (Jason) Rutkowski, Kathy (Ray) Veverka, Cherie (Rick) Vulysteke; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; niece Kim Wiley, nephew Paul Wiley, and many other family and extended family members.
Funeral Services will be 10 am on Friday, October 9, 2020, at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines. Burial will follow at Jordan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
