Doreen June (DeeDee) Anderson, 93, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2018 at Kennybrook Village in Grimes, IA. Funeral services will be held 11 am, Wednesday, January 2 at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines with burial following at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.
DeeDee was born in Bucyrus, North Dakota to Ilert and Bertha Iverson. The family moved to Hamilton County, Iowa in the 1930’s. DeeDee graduated as valedictorian from Randall (Iowa) High School in 1943. She attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines and went to work for Iowa-Des Moines National Bank where she met her future husband, Robert Anderson. They were married in September 1950, and raised three children. She later worked at Preferred Risk Insurance Company, and retired in 1982.
DeeDee was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Des Moines. She enjoyed reading her devotions, crocheting, bowling, travelling, playing cards and family activities. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by family, friends and anyone who knew her.
DeeDee was preceded in death by her husband Robert, to whom she was married for 61 years. She is survived by three children, Mitch (Molly) Anderson of Omaha, Tim (Jo) Anderson of Urbandale and Jody (Al) Tramontina of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Jason (Sherry) Anderson, Liz (Alex) Katz, Andrew Anderson, Spencer and Max Tramontina; great-grandsons, Gunnar Anderson and Marshall Katz; and step great-granddaughter Natalie Bullard. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Keith Iverson and sisters, Eunice Gabel, Eileen Seeley and Sylvia Gabrielson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Suncrest Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
