Emma R. Scott

Emma Rose Scott, 90, passed away July 16, 2018 at Courtyard Estates in Bondurant. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at McLaren’s.

Emma worked as a bookkeeper for many years until she and her husband, Cal bought a grocery store and bait shop in Montezuma. They also managed several apartments in West Des Moines. She was a member of the Red Hats who loved to sew, go fishing, and spend time with her family.

Emma is survived by her four children, Wesley M. Weiland, Sue Grant, Bob (Sheilah), and Bubs (Randy) Gillespie; 8 grandchildren, Cheree (Frank) Alexander, Shelly Wall (Matt McGill), Ryan Grant (Brandon Blair), Ty (Mandy) Scott, Riannon Scott (Evan Saxton-Williams), Joe (Tammy) Gillespie, Josh Gillespie, and Jadi (Mark) Steinbach; 10 great-grandchildren, Brett and Makayla Magg, Meg Alexander, Gary (Lexi) Alexander, Grant Alexander, Tyler (Katelynn) Amadeo, Zack Amadeo, Josie and Callie Gillespie, and Katie Steinbach; 5 great-great-grandchildren (with 1 on the way) Brylee and Becker Magg and Frankie, Vinnie, and Dominic Amadeo; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cal; son-in-law, Richard Grant; 1 brother; and 2 sisters.
