Frances L. Severs

Frances Severs, 82 formerly of Des Moines, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2012 in Valparaiso, IN. Services will be 11 am Monday at McLaren’s Chapel with interment at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 10 am to service time.

Francis was born on December 11, 1929 in Ottumwa the daughter of Archie and Ethyl (Gates) Carnes. She was a resident of Des Moines until 2004 when she and her husband, Paul moved to Indiana. She devoted her life to her family. After raising her children, Frances went on to become a nutritionist, teaching mothers less fortunate the importance of good nutrition for their children. Frances and Paul were dedicated grandparents, always attending plays and other special events their grandchildren were involved in. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Frances is survived by her loving children: Susan Dougherty and Steven Severs; grandchildren: Laura Saladana, John Dougherty, Shelley Mikszan and Scott Severs; great grandchildren: John and Ben Saladana, Jacob and Ryan Mikszan, Kuwain and Reese Severs: siblings Ray Carnes of Phoenix, AZ and Sandy Brooks of Wichita, KS.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Severs; siblings: Bernard, Betty, Darlene, Donald and Beula.
