Frank M. Cleaver, Sr., 88, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Kavanagh House on 56th Street In Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Frank was born in Rayburn, Missouri to Rev. A.E. and Cora Cleaver. He retired in 1990 from the Carpenter’s Local Union #106 and was an active member of the Church of God of South Des Moines. He loved to fish and tell fishing stories.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby; two daughters, Janet (Jim) Beam of Des Moines and Brenda Albizures of Des Moines; three sons, Frank J. (Laurie) Cleaver of West Des Moines, David Cleaver of Rock Island, Illinois, and Timothy (Kathy) Cleaver of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Imogene (Hubert) Goodnight of Mayflower, Arkansas, Elmer (Sharon) Cleaver of Des Moines, and A.D. (Margaret) Cleaver of Van Buren, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Cleaver.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Church of God of South Des Moines.
