Fred Ridgway, 63, was called to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 7, 2013. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at New Hope Assembly of God with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Fred was born January 4, 1950 in Des Moines, IA, the son of Derald and Florence Ridgway. He graduated from Valley High School in 1968 and Des Moines Area Community College in 1971.
He met the love of his life, Helen Ridgway, while attending a church that was pastored by his father at a young age. They were married April 25, 1969.
Fred was a carpenter contractor for 20 years. In 1990 he received his credentials through the Assemblies of God. He spent the next 23 years serving the Lord as an Evangelist/Missionary.
He was a man of faith and prayer and was a member of New Hope Assembly of God. Fred loved gardening and being outside with nature. His proudest accomplishments in life were his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild.
He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his wife, Helen; his daughters, Nicol (Jeff) Hoover and Angela (Brad) Imming; grandchildren, Alexandra Edwards, Austin Edwards, Sidney Imming, Lauren Hoover, Hannah Hoover and Blake Hoover; great grandchild, Gabriel Edwards; siblings, John (Muriel) Ridgway and Randy (Kay) Ridgway; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends. Fred was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to New Hope Assembly of God to be used to further the kingdom of God.
