Gene Lee Morhardt, 95, passed away on September 30, 2025. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Windsor United Methodist Church. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. at Resthaven Cemetery, West Des Moines, Iowa.
Gene was born on July 17, 1930, to Paul & Arlie (Kantlhener) Morhardt in Mt. Carroll, IL. He began his printing career during the Korean conflict as a member of the U.S. Army mobile topographic unit. He completed his career as President & CEO of Plain Talk printing, retiring in 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara; three sons, Bryan (Kellie), Michael (Crystal), and Tom (Megan); grandchildren, Richard (Emily), Matthew (Madeline), Nathan, Christian, Grace, Emily (Bryant) and Leah; four great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Beth (Gerald) Manning; nieces, Amy and Allyson; extended families of Mike and Susie Jacobsen, Kam and Katy Faulk. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
