Jerry was born on May 13, 1947, in Mason City, Iowa, to Jet and Johanna Lamb. He graduated from Saydel High School in Saylorville, Iowa, and continued his education at Grand View University, where he earned his associates degree. He then attended Drake University for a short time.
In his early twenties, Jerry met and married his first wife, Glenda. Together they welcomed their daughter, Julie Renee. Jerry and Glenda later divorced.
Jerry found love again when he met Denise through a church singles group. Their companionship blossomed into a lifelong partnership, and they were married in 1977. Together they built a loving home and welcomed two daughters, Heather and Lyndsey.
He devoted many years of his career to the United Parcel Service (UPS). Whether he was delivering packages or lending a hand to a coworker, Jerry approached every day with dedication and a warm smile
Faith was the cornerstone of Jerry's life. He and his family were longtime members of Union Park Baptist Church, now known as The Church at Union Park, where they faithfully served alongside their church family. His quiet faith was evident in the way he lived—with kindness, humility, and a genuine love for others. In his later years, Jerry found great comfort in reading his Bible and continued to rely on his faith throughout his journey with MS.
Above all else, Jerry treasured his family. Some of his happiest memories were made on family vacations, road trips, and simple days spent together. Jerry also had a lifelong love of the outdoors. He enjoyed countless hunting and fishing trips with his younger brother, John, and many close friends over the years. Some of his daughters' favorite memories were spent on the fishing boat with their dad, where he patiently taught them the ins and outs of walleye fishing. Those outings became more than fishing trips—they became treasured lessons in patience, laughter, and time spent together.
In his later years, Jerry enjoyed cheering on the University of Iowa Hawkeyes, faithfully watching football and basketball games from the comfort of his home. He was a devoted music fan who appreciated a wide variety of music, and he found joy in life's simple pleasures. Jerry will be remembered as an easygoing, gentle, and kind man whose steady presence brought comfort to those around him. His strength and perseverance throughout his long battle with multiple sclerosis reflected the quiet courage with which he lived his life.
Jerry is lovingly remembered by his wife, Denise Lamb; his daughters, Heather (Jeremy) Wallin, and Lyndsey Lamb; his grandchildren, Maiya (Patrick), Bryan, Tyler, Colby, Willow, and Lily; greatgrandchildren, Jasper, Harper, and Maverick; his younger brother, John; and many other cherished family members, friends, and all whose lives were enriched by knowing him. He is preceded in death by his older brother, Gary Lamb, who passed at 3 years old; his daughter, Julie; and his parents, Jet and Johanna Lamb.
