Howard Ivyl Rose, 82, entered Heaven on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at his home from natural causes. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2021 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, at McLaren’s Chapel.
Howard was born October 26, 1938 in Boone, IA to John and Clovia (McCaskey) Rose and served in the Army Reserves from 1960 to 1966. Howard was an accountant by trade working for many years at Prairie City Concrete and then for Mercantile Bank. He attended AIB Business College for two years and also served in the Army Reserves for six years discharging as a Specialist 4th Class. Howard married the love of his life, Norma Jeanne Leighton, on October 20, 1968 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Throughout their marriage, Howard and Norma enjoyed traveling together to various locations around the U.S. He kept track of all his nieces and nephews and all their accomplishments and enjoyed supporting the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa Cubs. He and Norma were also members of the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Howard is survived by his wife Norma and many loving nieces and nephews.
