Irene M. Payne, 101, of West Des Moines passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Kavanagh House on 56th. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday, November 28, 2011 at McLaren’s Chapel with interment at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 on Monday at McLaren’s. Irene was born on February 8, 1910 in Des Moines the daughter of Floyd and Mildred (Ferguson) Emery. She graduated from North High School and married J. Rufus Payne. She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Valley Junction #305, the National T.T.T. Society and the West Des Moines Women’s Club. Irene is survived by daughter Nadine (Robert) Frederiksen of Walker, MN; son Jack Payne (Rhonda Springer) of West Des Moines; two grandchildren, Debra Frederiksen of Walker, MN and John Frederiksen of St. James, MN; two great grandchildren Sarah and Presley Frederiksen of Walker, MN; one brother Ray Emery of Norwalk; two nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; granddaughter Laura Frederiksen; sisters Marjorie Emery and Catherine Wilcox and three brothers, Don, Dick and Del. Memorials may be directed to the West Des Moines Christian Church or Kavanagh House on 56th.
