

Isobel Victoria "Vee" Laughlin Graves Marshall, 94, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016, in Waukee, Iowa. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday at McLaren's Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at McLaren's.
Isobel was born February 24, 1922, in Mercer County, Missouri, the second child born to Lloyd LaFone Laughlin and Victoria Eulalah (Robinson) Laughlin. She grew up as a farm girl and graduated from Garden Grove, Iowa high school. She taught two years in a one room schoolhouse, then moved to Des Moines to work as a "Rosie the Riveter" at Solar Aircraft during World War II. She met her future first husband, Bob, there by winking at him on the production line. They were married in 1943 and had one daughter, Linda. Bob passed away in 1963. In 1965 she married John J. Marshall. She worked as a successful realtor for many years in Des Moines until she and John retired to Largo, Florida for 23 years before returning to the Des Moines area. Isobel and John spent 45 years together before he passed away in 2009.
Isobel was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert Graves; second husband, John J. Marshall; her siblings, Mary Maddyle (Harold) Davis, John Henry (Joan) Laughlin, Lloyd Myers Laughlin, Josephine Edith Elliott, and Montgomery Merril Laughlin; her daughter, Linda Victoria Graves Hardin; and son-in-law, Ross Alson Hardin.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Jack Elliott and sister-in-law, Lois Laughlin; her grandchildren, Robert A. (Michelle) Hardin and Lisa K. (Bryan) Wieskamp; five great-grandchildren, Madeline, Jenna, and Sara Wieskamp, Lauren (Shaun) Hardin Wilson and Victoria (Ray) Hardin McCloskey; two great-great grandchildren, Audrey and Ian Wilson; and many nieces and nephews and their descendants.
