Jack Goldenberg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 in the presence of those he loved. Jack was diagnosed with cancer nine years ago; to those that had the privilege of knowing Jack, it was no surprise that he continued to live his life with positivity and incredible strength.
Jack was born on Long Island in NY on March 16, 1962 to Emanuel and Pearl Goldenberg, the youngest of 3 children (following his brother, Henry Goldenberg and sister, Marcia Stearns).
Jack was one of those rare individuals that – despite having an innovative, brilliant mind – remained incredibly humble and open. Today we will brag just a little about his many accomplishments and adventures.
His career as a technologist began when he attended CW Post Long Island University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Economics. To anyone who asked he would simply say he worked with computers. However, Jack was a successful technology executive. Innovating and leading for companies such as Reuters, Dow Jones, Meredith Corporation and Legal Shield. Living and working in New York, London, Iowa and Oklahoma. His adventures span many countries over an almost four-decade career.
Even though Jack was an “out-of-the-box” thinker whose own intellectual ability knew no end, he was known for communicating complex ideas to others with patience. His colleagues tell stories of how much fun it was to work for and with Jack – he had an incredibly warm and infectious sense of humor and really loved what he did.
Despite his professional success, Jack – and everyone who knew him – would not hesitate to say that his greatest loves of all were his family: his wife, Brandy and his children, Grant (13) and Lily (10). Jack met Brandy 18 years ago and they were married in 2008.
Anyone who spent any time with Brandy and Jack knew that not only were they very much in love but as best of friends they made a great team. Jack loved attending his son’s soccer games and traveling for Monster Jam shows together. Tickle parties, card games, and snuggling were his and Lily’s favorite moments together. Jack and Brandy’s home was a favorite place for both kids and adults to hang out.
Jack shared his sense of adventure and love of travel with Brandy and their children from going on Disney cruises, attendings professional sports games, to traveling across the country.
As a lifelong Yankees’ fan, one of his most cherished memories is the time he had dinner with Derek Jeter on his birthday (and Jack, ever the gentleman, picked up the tab).
Jack Goldenberg touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed. We love you. You love us. Nothing else matters.
The family will be having a private gathering to celebrate Jack’s life.
