James "Jim" L. Thomas

Jim Thomas, 75, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. A visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2018, at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines. A private family entombment will be at Resthaven Mausoleum.

Jim was born June 15, 1942 to Millard Jr. and Elnora “Midge” Thomas in Des Moines, IA and lived most of his life in central Iowa. He graduated from Des Moines Tech High School in 1960. Jim worked at Valley Papers for over 25 years retiring in 2006.

Jim is survived by his wife, Doris; daughters, Brenda (Randy) Jones of Courtland, MN, Patti (Alan) Kelleher of Perry, IA and Tina (Tim) Sutherland of United Arab Emirates; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Grace) Thomas of Pella, IA, sisters, Diana (Marc) Besmanoff of Mesa, AZ and Marlene (Kurt) Mass of Des Moines, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant son, Douglas James Thomas.
