

Jeremy Dearduff, beloved husband, father, son, and brother, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 2, 2026. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held to honor Jeremy's life on Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 5 to 7 p.m. at McLaren’s Chapel, 801 19th Street in West Des Moines, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Jeremy.
Born on May 16, 1972, in Des Moines, Iowa, Jeremy was a cherished member of his community and a beacon of warmth and humor to all who knew him. Jeremy was the devoted son of Patricia and the late James Dearduff. He grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa, where he graduated from Valley High School in 1990. He went on to earn a B.S. in Computer Science from Iowa State University, a testament to his intellectual curiosity and dedication to his education.
In 1998, Jeremy married the love of his life, Vicki, at Living History Farms. Their union was filled with joy, adventure, and an unwavering partnership that stood as an inspiration to all. Together in 2002, they welcomed their son, Logan, who became the center of their world. Jeremy's endless love and pride for his family were evident in every aspect of his life.
Jeremy's career was marked by his commitment and expertise in the field of computer science. He was a valued employee at Sammons Financial Group and had previously contributed his talents to American Equity, FCStone, Telligen, and Principal International. His colleagues remember him not only for his professionalism but also for his humor and generous spirit.
A talented musician, Jeremy graced the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra with his skill on the string bass for 30 remarkable years. His music added beauty and joy to the lives of many, a testament to his passion for the arts.
Beyond his professional and musical achievements, Jeremy was a man of diverse interests. He took great pleasure in driving his 2019 Ford Mustang and enjoyed exploring the rich flavors of bourbon. His love for travel led him on many adventures with his family, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
Those who knew Jeremy will fondly remember his penchant for humor, particularly tormenting people with "stupid dad jokes" that never failed to bring smiles to those around him. He was happiest at home, enjoying a good meal, a video game, or a favorite show, surrounded by the love of his family. Later in life he found a love for working out and riding his bike.
Jeremy is survived by his wife of 27 years, Vicki Dearduff; and their son, Logan Dearduff of West Des Moines. He also leaves behind his devoted mother, Patricia Dearduff of Clive; sister, Erika Jurkiewicz (J.C.) of West Des Moines; sister-in-law, Brenda Roberts (Dean) of Cedar Rapids; and brother-in-law, Wayne Baker (Michelle) of Solon and many nephew and nieces. He is preceded in death by his father, James Dearduff; in-laws, Charles and Lorraine Baker of Cedar Rapids; and sister-in-law, Kathy Morgan-Baker of Cedar Rapids.
Jeremy's legacy of love, laughter, and music will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
