Jerry William Voyna, 73, of West Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at home surrounded by family.

Jerry was born to William & Emily (Vopava) Voyna in Cresco, Iowa on May 1, 1948. He attended rural school through the eighth grade and then high school in the Howard-Winneshiek Schools. He attended Iowa State University from 1966 to 1968. Jerry was drafted into the Marines in April 1968 and served in Vietnam, being honorably discharged in November 1969. He attended the University of Northern Iowa from 1976 through 1979 and became a CPA. In 2001 he married Nancy White. Together Jerry and Nancy managed QHC Management and later became partners in owning the business.

Jerry enjoyed playing pool and catch with his son Jason, was involved in bowling leagues, and loved fishing with his son and brothers. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan (go Hawks!) and was known to scratch a lottery ticket or two. He was a skilled CPA who had a knack for numbers. He was a warm and kind person which made him beloved by many and he will be missed.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife and best friend Nancy, son Jason (Abigail), stepsons Michael Hidlebaugh (Jamie) and Mark Hidlebaugh (Angela), his first wife Lois Sebastian, brothers Marvin (Pat) of Conyers, GA, Alvin (Karen) of Cresco, IA, and sister-in-law Eileen Voyna of Ostrander, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Frank, and sister Phyllis.

Jerry fought two major battles in his life; Vietnam and cancer. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society.

It was always a treat when our Mom would take us to see her brother and the rest of the Voyna's in Cresco, whether it was playing games, fishing or just hearing some really entertaining stories! Jerry had come back from his service in Vietnam, and had gotten what I still think must have been the coolest car ever made, an orange Plymouth Roadrunner! He always had that sense of being quietly in control, but just as fun loving as that Roadrunner. Rest in Peace, Jerry.
