

JoAnne (Cameron/Pinneke/Rice) Daniels, age 90, died June 20, 2026 after a short illness at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2026 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines with burial following at Resthaven Cemetery.
JoAnne was born July 2, 1935 in Des Moines to Albert and Inger (Johnsen) Daniels. She attended Onamia High School in Onamia, MN and the University of Minnesota, where she worked at Fairfield Hospital while completing the X-ray Technician program.
JoAnne worked a number of jobs in both the public and private sector before retiring in 2005 from the Iowa Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.
JoAnne enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays, going to garage sales, going to movies, concerts and shows at the Des Moines Civic Center and elsewhere.
She also enjoyed all kinds of animals and owned multiple cats (mostly Siamese) over the years.
JoAnne was especially proud of her children and grandchildren. She did her best to attend their activities (softball, dance) near Des Moines, never missing one of Sarah's dance recitals.
She leaves behind two sons, Mark A. of West Des Moines and Eric J. of North Liberty; four grandchildren, Jena D. of North Liberty, Will A. of Waterloo, Evan N. of Cedar Rapids and Sarah J. (Thomas Juranek) of Lafayette CO; nephews and nieces, and two wonderful daughters-in-law, Dana Cameron of North Liberty and Susan (Cameron) Daemen of Ankeny.
JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael J. Cameron; brother, Harold Schmidt (Lucille); sisters, Agnes Gonder (Casey) and Virginia Hammond (Jerry); many aunts and uncles; nephews, Jeff Gonder and Jim Schmidt; and niece, Jerilynn Hammond.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
