Mr. Kiburz was an exceptionally kind, humble, caring, and gentle man, who truly served other's with a servant's heart.  As a nurse, I ways enjoyed discussing medications and pharmaceutical information with him, as he was honest and informed. My family relocated to West Des Moines in the mid 1980's, and I chose Mr. Kiburz and his pharmacy, to meet our needs. Being far from "home" he was of great comfort when filling prescriptions for our children, as well as ourselves.  His employees were likewise, so like him as well- kind, reassuring,  and supportive.  A few years later, when we had to move out of state again, I felt like I was losing a dear family friend/family.  Through the decades, I've often thought of Mr. Kiburz and his wonderful colleagues, recalling them in both such warm thoughts and prayers. I'm so very sorry for the family of Mr. Kiburz and for their loss. I can only offer you my condolences and prayers. The community and profession were made so much better for having Mr. Kiburz as a public servant among them.

I am SO grateful that Jack's funeral will be livestreamed.  I will be attending via livestream!

Very fond memories of walking to the drug store (I lived on 56th) and having a drink at the soda fountain. I was just a child but always was treated with respect. My parents had their scripts filled there and I seem to recall Mr. Kiburz coming in at night to fill a script for us.  Another part of history gone but not forgotten. My thoughts and prayers to the family. 

I am so sorry to learn of Jack's death, and yet, I rejoice that he is reunited with Janis and Mary.  Jack was one of my favorite DMARC Food Pantry volunteers!  We were together for my nearly-13 years as the Food Pantry Director.  Janis, too, faithfully came on every Food Pantry Monday!  I couldn't have performed my job without them.  I may not be able to attend any of the services for Jack in person, but I will be there in spirit and prayer.

We enjoyed dreaming about a Kiburz-Osterhaus partnership called OK Drugs. This never happened,. But our partnership in committing to advancing our profession did happen and  lasted for decades.
We also did keep up on family and the "mighty class of'52".

Jack Kiburz was a truly good person.  When my oldest child was sick at age three (fifty years ago) and I had two even younger children at home and a husband who was out of town, Jack drove to my home after he’d closed the pharmacy to hand deliver the medicine she needed.  It was a kindness I’ll never forget. My condolences to the family for your loss of this good man.
