Joseph R. Jimenez Sr., 83, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 after a long illness. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
Joe was born February 7, 1927 to Jesse Jimenez and Rose (Jimenez) Llamas in Des Moines, Iowa and lived most of his life there. He retired from Firestone after more than 30 years of work. He was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie L. Jimenez; second wife, Margaret (Allison) Jimenez; two sisters, Marcela Leader and Alyce Epping; and a brother, Abundio Jimenez. He is survived by a sister, Jeri VanderLinden of Florida; companion, Deloris Jean Kluesner; his children, Joseph R. (Nancy) Jimenez Jr., Randy L. (Ann) Jimenez and Denise Bassell; step-children, Linda Willson, Jim (Judy) Allison, Janice Ketelson (deceased) and Peggy (Bill) Noble; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday with a 7 p.m. Vigil service at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Joe’s family. Online condolences may be sent to www.mclarensresthavenchapel.com.
