Keith Edward Bridson, 93, of West Des Moines, IA, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2026. A memorial service will be held 12 p.m. Noon Saturday, October 3, 2026 at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines, IA with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Keith was born December 12, 1932, in Spirit Lake, IA to Emmett and Florence (Tritle) Bridson and was raised in Terril, IA. Keith had two brothers, Erwin Bridson (wife Jean Fairchild) and Wesley Bridson (wife Barbara), and one sister, Bernice (Bridson) Lewis (husband Weldon). All are deceased. Following high school, Keith joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He married Phyllis (Fairchild) Bridson July 14, 1953, while serving. Following his stint in the Army, he and Phyllis moved to Ames, IA, while he attended Iowa State University, achieving a degree in Civil Engineering. Keith served the State of Iowa in water quality until his retirement at 65 years old. Keith was an enthusiastic bicyclist riding RAGBRAI for several years and participated in the Bike Ride Across America in celebration of Iowa’s Sesquicentennial. He also enjoyed many trips on his BMW motorcycle. Keith’s greatest loves were his wife, Phyllis, his family and his Golden Retrievers.
Keith is fondly remembered by daughter, Lori (Bridson) Hunter of West Des Moines, IA (husband Randy), sons Thomas Bridson of Pfafftown, NC (wife Sally Swisher) and Paul Bridson of Ankeny, IA (wife Kelly Sargent), Grandchildren Danielle (Janke) Holsapple and Ryan Janke of Prole, Iowa (wife Lindsay), Daniel Bridson of Texas and Darragh Bridson of Texas, and five great-granddaughters, Marin, Lauren and Hannah Janke of Prole, IA and Kennedy and Quinn Holsapple of Niantic, CT. Great-grandson, Sam Holsapple preceded Keith in death.
