Kimberly Helen Masterson Lavastida, of West Des Moines, Iowa passed away on January 31, 2011. Kim was born in Parma, Ohio, on November 4, 1968, to Joseph G. Masterson and Sue Ann Harper. She attended Baylor University and later graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
After college, she began her career at MJD Designs as an accountant and soon after became what she always knew she was meant to be, a mother. Kim devoted her life to raising her children and spent every moment helping them grow into the wonderful young men they are today. Over the years she touched countless lives through her friendship, her ability to inspire others, and through her strength and courage. Kim’s greatest joys in life were her three boys, but she also enjoyed ice skating, gymnastics and singing. She had the voice of an angel and was a member of the Lutheran Church of Hope choir. Kim also had a special place in her heart for the changing of the seasons, which is why she left Texas for the cold, cold Iowa winters. She had an infectious smile, a thoughtful kindness, an enthusiastic personality, and a real passion for life that will truly be missed.
Kim is survived by her three sons, Joseph, Kurt, and Benjamin; her father, Joseph; sister, Lori; brother, Brian; Aunts Carol, Brenda and Nancy; Uncles Marvin, Gary and Jeff; Cousins Peter, Stephanie, Andrew, and Bill; Niece, Makenna; and Nephew, Baine. Kim was preceded in death by her Mother, Sue Ann; Grandmothers, Thelma and Elsa; Grandfather, Les, Aunt Shirley; and Uncle Jim.
