Lawrence (Larry) D. Lowe was born September 29, 1931 to Richard and Mabel Lowe. He grew up in Valley Junction and was a Valley graduate. He married Beverly Larsen in 1950 and had four children; Diana, Larry, Scott, and David. In 1975, he married Carol Twait and was step-father to Jeff and Barry.
He started his career as a tool maker at Fawn Engineering. Then he continued his career as a tool designer for Massey Ferguson and retired from Curries Co. in Mason City. Larry was a great handy-man. He built his lake house mostly all by himself for his family. Never was he a man to ask for help, but he would gladly help others.
Besides the love for his family, he loved to sail, but he probably spent more time refurbishing the various sailboats he bought than actually sailing. He worked several years on the hardware he designed for sailing masts and received a patent. His other favorite activity was being on the golf course.
He is survived by his daughter, Diana (Scott) Hatfield; sons, Larry (Nancy) Lowe, Scott Lowe, and David Lowe; step-children, Jeff (Diane) Twait of MO, Barry Twait of Cedar Falls, IA; Eight grandchildren, Shani, Brandon, Nathan, Keeley, Derek, Stephanie, Jackson, and Jenna, along with ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; and siblings, Richard Lowe, Earl Lowe, and Nadine Wiley.
