

Loren James Roiger, 86, of West Des Moines passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 25, 2020. A Memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2020 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Omaha, Nebraska. Loren's family would like to express their deep regret that there will not be a time for a luncheon and fellowship following the funeral mass because of COVID-19 restrictions. Loren was born in Springfield, MN to Otto and Louise (Fischer) Roiger. A man of many interests and an insatiable curiosity, Loren exercised an extraordinary work ethic throughout his life. He enjoyed dancing, golfing, being a pilot, gardening, woodworking, attending daily mass, praying his rosary, and above all helping others. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. His family will remember him as a man of faith and a loving father and husband. His selfless spirit and lifelong optimism will be missed by all who knew him.
Loren is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; five daughters; Beth (Adrian), Becky, Rachel, Jane (John), and Neysa (Greg). Further survived by the mother of his children, Marilyn; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Alice Ziegler; and brother-in-law, Andy Hacker. He is also survived by three stepdaughters, Sally, Sherry (David), and Shelly (Dan); five step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margie Hacker; and brother, Gerald.
