Lupe Murillo, 92, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Norwalk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at McLaren’s Chapel with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Lupe was born October 3, 1922 in Des Moines, IA to Nick and Feliciana (Perez) Leon. She was a Baker for the West Des Moines School District and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Lupe loved cooking, sewing and spending time with her family.
Lupe is survived by her son, Jess (Kathy) Murillo of Clive; daughter-in-law, Jane Murillo of Adel; two grandchildren, Matt (Maggie) Murillo of West Des Moines and Allyson (Mike) Vukovich of Des Moines; five great-grandchildren, Regan, Avery, Rylee, Jacob and Weston; brother, Bernard Leon of AZ and two sisters, Toni Leon of West Des Moines and Felicia Mullin of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess “Slim” Murillo; infant son, David Murillo; son, Richard Murillo; two brothers Canuto Leon and Trino Leon and sister, Katie Negrete.
