I just heard today about Lynn and I am sad.   He is such a good guy.   I sat by him in the woodworkers club with Steve Sutton and Lynn also sold me his scroll saw when he upgraded to a new one a couple years ago.   He also attended the same same church, New Hope United Methodist.    A great person.  He made 2 large scroll saw masterpieces of hundreds of wood pieces of the Lord's Prayer and the 23rd Psalm that hang in our church narthex; real works of art.   I am sad, but also happy that I got to know Lynn and his passion for his hobbies and his friendly and optimistic outlook.   

I, like my brother Shane posted, remember my Uncle Lynn and Aunt Joan first from a family trip from California to Iowa.  As I was the first girl born to a Clary in a few generations, (my parents being Kent and Helen Clary, Lynn’s older brother and wife) I must say I was somewhat spoiled by the Clary men ( Pete, my grandfather and Lynn, my uncle). I remember the picture taken of me in front of the large tree in my grandparents’ front yard, giggling as I sat on my uncle’s lap.
As an adult it was the stories and jokes he would tell that I will remember.  A phone call from him always started with,  “ Hey ,it’s your favorite uncle”.  And then there was golf! He could talk hours with my husband Nick about his latest, greatest or not so greatest golf game.
He will be missed, but I know he is at peace.

My wife Anita and I knew Lynn as a neighbor in a small condo complex in West Des Moines. We will miss him. His nature is perfectly depicted in his obituary picture .He was always interested in seeing to it that the condo grounds were properly maintained. If there is a heaven I hope it has grass and trees that need tending.

Sympathy from one of Lynn’s old customers. My father and I went to Wilson’s Barber Shop in the 1970s. Lynn was always cheerful and talkative (you chose an excellent photo of him). I credit him for persuading my dad that it was okay if my hair grew over my ears. 

So sorry for your loss our thoughts are with all of Lynn's family during this time of difficulty. Have known Lynn for many years both being Shriners of  ZaGaZig shrine.  He truly was a great member and Shriner.  Will remember him always with a smile on his face and a camera in his hands.  Know he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Grandpa I am happy you are at peace, but I am sad in having lost you. I know you are in a better place now, watching over all of us. I hope I can be half the man you were. I will miss hearing "Hey Sport" every time I'd see you. I already miss the time we spent together when I was growing up, particularly at the Squire Wilson's Barber Shop, the Franklin Barber Shop, and heading out to the Willow Creek Driving Range. The Barber Shop talks with family and friends were always good fun. I will sorely miss the family history lessons, and tidbits of wisdom you shared. You made me proud to call myself a Clary. You served our country, and your community and you raised a wonderful family. I love you Grandpa, I miss you already, I wish we could've had more time together. What I wouldn't give for one more conversation. Rest in peace now, and be with God. We will watch over Grandma until it's her time to be by your side once again. Love, Zachary (and Maria too, I knew you were very fond of her and always asked me how she was doing).

I first met my Uncle Lynn in 1954, though my recollection of this first encounter is through the family photo album as I was not yet one year old. He had come to California with Grandfather and Grandmother Clary.  The photos are of him in his Hamburg High School sweater. 

Mt first actual memory is from 1960 when the Clary's of California visited the Clary's of Iowa and he and Aunt Joan came to Hamburg in a pink Rambler sedan. He seemed to be a very happy person with a bright smile. 

Over the years there were a number of visits to Hamburg during the summer and the Clary's from West Des Moines would make the trip to Hamburg. There was always the large supper at Grandmother Clary's. Uncle Lynn always had a story or two to tell.

Myself and my sister Janis also visited their family in West Des Moines on a few occasions which included a razor haircut at the barbershop that he worked out of, the golf club that he was a member of and the Iowa State Fair, He oversaw the barbershop exhibit.  I still have some golf clubs that he put new grips on. 

I joined the blue lodge during the 80's and made arrangements to take the third degree at the lodge in Hamburg. He came down for that event as was the Third Ruffian. For those of the craft he took the part to heart and played the part to the fullest. I will leave it at that. 

Though there was the separation due to distance and my carrier, I always found my time with Uncle Lynn to be enjoyable, and he will be missed. While he has departed this life, we will meet again when it is our time to travel to the other side of the river.

My heart is heavy as I read of my old friend’s death. Lynn and i and other boys of our age were blessed to lead the kind of small Midwest town life that can never again  be possible in these troubled times. Rest In Peace old friend.

Lynn was a great guy and a great Mason.  He always was so pleasant and with a smile on his face.  I had the pleasure of seeing him at many Masonic and Shrine events over the years.  Rest well my brother.

I've known Lynn for many years as a member of Acanthus Masonic Lodge.  He was a steadfast member always there with a smile and a welcoming handshake.  He  lived the tenets of Freemason in his daily life and met that great masonic goal of "a life well lived."
We will miss him.

My condolences to the family of Lynn Clary on his passing. I remember Lynn from Acanthus Masonic Lodge #632 in Beaverdale & the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine. He was a great story teller - and he had some good ones to tell. I knew that Lynn was from Hamburg, but I did not know that his father was also a barber! So much more to barbering than “just cutting hair”. Lynn was a caring man, and many people will no doubt miss him. Blessings to Lynn’s family. #RIP.
