Margaret J. Garbett, 84, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines with private inurnment at Resthaven Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Margaret was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa and lived most of her life in the Des Moines area. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Margaret was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church and sang in the choir for many years.
Margaret is survived by her son, Tim (Pamela) Garbett of Chandler, Arizona; two daughters, Lisa (Steve Helland) Sellmeyer and Lori (Jim) Jorgensen both of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Sam and Anna Garbett, Amy Weis and Lindsay Darbyshire; three great-grandchildren, Jayden Darbyshire, Genevieve and Anabelle Weis; and a brother, Charlie (Erma) Bonfante of Bellingham, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth and great-granddaughter, Madeline.
