Mariquita “Maria” Ulrich, 80, passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at McLaren’s Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Maria was born in Agana, Guam on November 5, 1936 to Jesus and Josephina (Yamaguchi) Quitugua. She attended St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines. Maria loved to cook, dance, play pokeno with her senior friends and go to Prairie Meadows. Her greatest love was for her family and all of her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was loved by everyone and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by six children, Shirlene (Steve), Vicki (Paul), Keith (Diana), Tina (Jimmy), Becky and Harry; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and nine siblings, Dorothy Wilsey, Jesus Quitugua, Isabel Dydasco, Jose Quitugua, Cecilia Pennell, Teresita Ogo, Annie Aguon, Paul Aquiningoc, and Victor Chargulaf. Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Raymond Ulrich; parents, Jesus and Josephina Quitugua; and her sister, Nenita Quitugua.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at McLaren’s Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Ambrose Cathedral.
