

Marilyn was born December 17, 1930, to Carl O. and Hazel (Gilbert) Miller in Omaha, NE. Her family moved to Des Moines IA when she was 13.
She remained in Des Moines for the majority of her adult life, moving to Kennybrook in Grimes 3 years ago.
After graduating from Des Moines Technical High School, Marilyn married Dennis Frisk in 1949. Out of this union, they had 4 children, Steve, Ed, John, and Kathy.
Marilyn worked for Younkers Department Stores over the span of many years. She created Window Displays in the downtown store, was the Hostess for the Store for Homes in Merle Hay Mall, and a manager in the wigs/hat department in Eastgate. Marilyn also worked for Frisk and Moon Catering Company, and later, she worked at Principal Financial as a Proofreader in the contracts department, from where she retired.
Marilyn enjoyed being creative, painting/drawing, cake decorating, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She entered her works in the Iowa State Fair and won many ribbons. She was also a fan of reading true crime and working crossword puzzles.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Steve (Sue) Frisk, Kathy (Larry) Lanham, 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Carl O and Hazel Miller, her siblings, Betty Prather, Carl Jr, Richard, and Gilbert Miller, her sons Ed and John Frisk, And her former husband Dennis Frisk.
We would like to thank the staff at Kennybrook Village, Maggie's Place, and Suncrest Hospice for all the care they provided Marilyn during her time there..
Funeral Services will be held at McLarens Resthaven Chapel and Mortuary on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM with visitation 1 hour prior. A graveside service to follow.
