

Mark Alan Boley, 71, of Maxwell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Visitation will be Monday, June 22, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. at McLaren’s Chapel 801 19th St West Des Moines, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Animal Rescue League. The family sincerely appreciates the thoughts, prayers, and support extended during this difficult time.
Born on September 5, 1954, in Keosauqua, Iowa, Mark lived a life defined by devotion to his family, strong values, and enduring friendships. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness, wisdom, and sense of humor touched the lives of many.
Family was the center of Mark’s life. He took great pride in his children and found immense joy in watching his grandchildren grow. His unwavering love, guidance, and steady presence will remain a lasting influence on those who knew and loved him.
Mark will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, and steadfast support of family and friends. He leaves behind countless treasured memories and a legacy of love that will continue through the generations that follow.
Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the lives he touched and, in the family, he loved so dearly.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Boley; his daughter, Brooke (Patrick) Shelquist; his son, Matt (Amanda) Boley; and his cherished grandchildren, Lawson Shelquist, Torin Boley, and Lachlan Boley. He is also survived by his brother, Jim (Barb) Boley, and his sister, Jane (Jose) Quintanar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marilyn Boley.
