I will never forget the music conversations and sometimes debates we would have. Mark was a person of principle and character. We miss you man.

Here's a message from a former student.  Sorry, Kathryn, I couldn't find you on facebook.

If only I could have hold my tears, then I would do that now. It seems like yesterday I was placed in Reading Class 3 and Listening Class 1. It was 5 years ago when my first big dream came true, and thank you very much to be one of my super awesome teachers on earth. I still remember you refused me to call you "Sir", instead just called you "Mark". You even apologized to me as you noticed I could have been in higher Listening Class but you couldn't do something to make it because it was too late. I still remember the way you taught me and my friends in both classes, full of laughs, full of stories and full of dreams too. You always said to us "Enjoy your life!" You taught me how to be a low profile person. I still remember you always came to campus with your bike, even in storm too. That last day in campus, when all IEOP students must take TOEFL test, we were wet as we passed through the hard rainstorm, you and some other teachers too. It was 28 July 2011, the last time I met you and other teachers.
My brain reminds me that you said I was your favorite student. You even gifted me your special collection which you brought from your traveling. It was really an honor as I never expected it. I have had promised to email you if I got master scholarship, but until writing this on my facebook, i never do that. Now, it's too late to tell that you had successfully taught English to me or even say "hallo". I am so sorry, Mark.

So sad to hear about Mark. We went to high school, together. Always enjoyed hanging out with him.

I'm saddened to hear of Mark's passing. I taught with him at ISU. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

I met Mark in 7th grade at Stilwell Jr. High. We were truly life long buddies and I loved him like a brother. I can honestly say Mark taught me the meaning of what it means to be a true friend. He was there for me at the utter worst point in my life. I will miss him.

I had the pleasure of knowing him only briefly. We enjoyed conservations about music, playing guitar, vintage musical gear, travels and various life experiences. My colleagues and I enjoyed his "rock-star" swagger, colorful vocabulary and delightfully twisted sense of humor! I can still see his smile and hear his laughter - thankful for the good memories and times that we shared.

I met Mark in March 1971. We have been friends since despite distance and circumstances. We shared a variety of interests, conventional and otherwise, including music and guitar playing in general. I believe we will all meet again on the other side and the time between will seem insignificant. Mark, until then you will be in our hearts and memories for we will always Love You. Until then  my dear friend.
