Martha Fering passed to her next life on July 23, 2016, after fighting cancer with courage and grace for over 10 years. Martha had a kind soul, a gentle heart, and a special spirit. She loved helping people and retired from a career in customer service with IBIS. She will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know her.
Martha was a member of the Central Iowa Orchid Society and loved her flowers, as well as reading, music and travel. She leaves behind her husband of nearly 46 years, Loren (Al), son Chris and daughter Erica. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Bette Ogle.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. at McLarens Funeral Chapel in West Des Moines, Iowa. Private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, MN (www.gift-of-life.org) or the Iowa Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org/iowa).
