Martha M. Keeley, 90, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Parkridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Martha was born June 13, 1927 in Des Moines to John and Mary (Ferguson) Cole, and attended Roosevelt High School. She worked 35 years for the V.A. Hospital and volunteered many hours there. She was a 50-year member of Central Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the local American Business Women’s Association (ABWA). She married Emery Keeley, Jr. December 27, 1949. Martha enjoyed vacationing in Estes Park, CO with family. Listening to classical music and reading were some of her favorite pastimes.
Martha is survived by her son, David; nieces, Sherry Baker (Dan) and Susan Kappelman; cousin, Carolyn Roth; sister-in-law, Cynthia Jackson; great-nephews and great-niece. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery, who passed January 6, 1955; her parents; brother, Robert Cole; sister-in-law, Opal Cole, and nephew, Robert Cole, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Central Presbyterian Church.
