Marvin was a member of Windsor Heights Lutheran Church, Des Moines Golf and Country Club, Za Ga Zig Scottish Rite and Capital Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed playing golf, cards, traveling and the Hallmark card program on his computer. He loved to send special personal cards. He always had a beautiful garden which he loved to share. Marvin served active duty in the Korean War. He retired in January 1995 as President of Sturges, Bragg and Kister Inc. Insurance Agency.
Marvin was proceeded in death by his loving wife Wardella; his sister, Phyllis Whalen; and parents, George and Minnie Kister. After his wife’s death he met Lois Owen, who became his companion for daily dinners, card games and general activities as well as a traveling companion. Marvin considered Lois his significant other as she has been with him for the above since the early months of 2009. He was with Lois when she adopted Sugar Cookie, a very special white cat. They mutually enjoyed each other’s company.
Marvin was always a perfect gentleman. He absolutely loved life!
