Mary grew up in Des Moines, graduating from Valley High in 1968. She spent her summertime life guarding, soaking in the sun. She was a social butterfly, something that continued throughout her life. Mary loved gardening. She grew tomatoes and peppers as well as tended to many different flowers. Her favorite were daisies. Mary’s favorite thing to do after retirement was to go on cruises with her husband, Bill. She looked forward to the trip every year. She always loved a good steak but had many different tastes, including a sweet tooth from time to time. For her birthday celebrations, Mary would enjoy lunch at Portifino’s in Ankeny. She never missed an opportunity to tell the people in her life how much she loved and cared for them. Her quick wit and sense of humor will be deeply missed.
