Mary was the OR supervisor when I interviewed right out of nursing school. During our chat, she noted my maiden name: Wengert, and we discovered she had gone to high school with my father. Unfortunately, he passed away when I was 6 years old and I had very few mementos from him. Mary hired me and on my first day she presented me with things she had saved from her high school days, including several items featuring my dad! Mary will always have a place in my heart!

I met Mary probably 40 years ago at Methodist when I would stick my head in the surgery area when I worked in endoscopy. I loved to make her smile for she was in a demanding job! Her smile stuck with me and followed at St Mark! A great person always looking out for others. Prayers and sympathy!

My condolences to Mary's family. I worked for Mary back in the 60's at Methodist Hospital. She was a super boss.

I have such fond memories of Mary. My favorite one is from many years ago when my youngest child was about to have surgery, and I was a young mother, very anxious about the impending ordeal. I knew Mary from church, and she came out of the operating room (part of the team that day) and gave me a hug before the surgery, and assured me she would be in there the whole time and would take good care of my little girl. That reassurance meant the world to me. The memory of her kindness and thoughtfulness brings tears to my eyes even these many years later.
My heart goes out to Mary's family. I know God will keep her and them in His care, just as she did for so many others.
