Dr. Maurice A. Correy, 81, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Maurice was born July 1, 1932 in Jamaica, IA to Raymond and Hattie (Stockburger) Correy. He was a 1960 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Denistry and practiced for 42 years in Des Moines. Maurice was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends at the lake, was an avid Hawkeye fan and loved hunting, fishing and his annual St. Patrick’s Day cookout for family and friends in Sun City, AZ.
Maurice is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Nancy Correy of Waukee; three sons, Chris Correy of Waukee, Tim (Terry) Correy of Bettendorf and David Correy of Urbandale; daughter, Colleen Carter of Denver, CO; five grandchildren, Keith and Nick Correy, Maggie, Jenni and John Carter; great-granddaughter, Ivy Correy; brother, Larry (Janet) Correy of Jamaica and sister, Gerry (Bob) Henson of Brighton, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, LaFaun and Rita and infant son, Patrick Joseph Correy.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McLaren’s Chapel with a Rosary Service at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the VA Medical Center or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
